Bodhi Wishing Shrine at Ngong Ping 360

If you are superstitious and a believer, don't leave Ngong Ping 360 without making a wish at the Bodhi Wishing Shrine. You won't miss it as it's situated just under the Bodhi Tree on the way to the Big Buddha and the Po Lin Monastery.

The Bodhi Tree, known as the Bo Tree, is the “Tree of Awakening”. It was the tree under which Siddhartha meditated “Who am I and why am I here?”, eventually attaining Enlightenment and becoming Buddha.

There is a legend saying that wishes made at the “Bodhi Wishing Shrine” under the Bodhi Tree will come true, so try your luck. Make your wishes by writing your own wish on a card and post it at the Bodhi Wishing Shrine now.

A wishing card can be redeemed with any purchase of HK$150 or more at Ngong Ping 360 Souvenir Shops. Below are the terms and conditions:
  • Each valid receipt can only redeem a maximum of one wishing card.
  • The offer is only available to customers who have spent HK$150 or more at Ngong Ping 360 Souvenir Shop.
  • Valid same-date receipt from Ngong Ping 360 Souvenir Shop must be presented and redeemed at a specified time.
  • Activity is subject to change without prior notice.
  • Ngong Ping 360 reserves the right of final decision in case of dispute.

It's not that I don't believe on wishing but I didn't find anything interesting from their shops so I ended up not buying. Besides, I think you can wish and pray for anything wherever you are and you don't have to spend in order to do that.

Oh and just to let you know, you might think that the tree is a real one, it's not. It's artificial and perfectly made to look like a real tree. I find it a little disappointing, specially when I saw the real big trees near the Po Lin Monastery. I wished they just use one of those trees as the Wishing Tree, but I guess it needs to be the exact kind of tree mentioned in the history.
