14 Must See Attractions in Belait District, Brunei Darussalam!

Although this is the largest District in Brunei, the attractions you can see the are only half of what you can see in Muara-Brunei. It is, however, the production base of the nation's main export commodities, oil and gas.
If you ever want to to visit the district, here are the list of what you can see there:

1. Tamu Kuala Belait
Also known as Kuala Bealit Market, is an open air market open for business every Sunday morning from 6:00am to 11:00am. The market is located in Jalang Padan, a five-minute walk from the heart of the district's downtown.

This park was built to commemorate the Sultan's Silver Jubilee celebration and is a gift from the people of Belait. You should know by now that Brunei has a lot of recreation parks, but this one is the largest of them all. I really admire Brunei for taking priority in preserving their natural resources. Being rich cannot only be measured by money or material things but also by how much natural resources a country has and how they protect them. Visitors can explore this park by following a well-marked trails. Botanists can use a post to observe the floras and faunas flourishing at treetop level. You can either explore the forest via an organized tour or just a self-guided tour.

8. Luagan Lalak Lake/Recreation Park
Another recreation park in Brunei that plays an important role in preserving their natural resources. It's where the rare alluvial freshwater swamp or empran is located. The water in the swamp rises repaidly during rainy periods and recedes quickly on dry seasons. Like any other parks in Brunei, this one also has a wooden walkways.

9. Wasai Wong Kadir Recreational Park
To have a complete trek into this jungle, one must need at least 45-minute. The jungle has a picturesque spot, photographers will love. The trail leads to a fresh and cool river water. Brunei really gets hot on most days so it's advisable to bring protections if you are planning on doing the trek.

10. The Labi Longhouses
Labi Longhouses is literally translated as a village under one roof. It consists of a single shed-like structure divided along its length are separate family lodgings, each of which can be accessed via a communal area running the length of the house. One longhouse can be divided as many as 16 lodgings. The village was used to be where the Iban head hunters lived. Now, the village is open for visitors, but common courtesies must be observed, When visiting, a small gift or token must be presented to the owner of the house and one must ask permission before entering. Once given the permission, a footwear must be removed as as sign of respect.

11. Seria Town
Is where the Oil was first drawn in 1929, and since then a commercial production started there. They used a machine called "Nodding Donkey" to get the oil from Seria's soil.

12. Oil & Gas Discovery Centre
Another Centre set-up by Brunei Shell Petroleum, OBDC as the local calls it, aims to stimulate interest in the petroleum industry. It's like an invention centre, where experts discover and make new explorations into science and technology.
