✈️ A Quick and Easy Way to Travel from Taoyuan Airport to Taichung or Cingjing
When we arrived in Taiwan for the first time, I was determined to find the cheapest and most efficient way to get from Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to Taichung — and eventually to Cingjing Farm. After doing tons of research, I found that UBUS #705 is the only direct bus from the airport to the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) Taoyuan Station.
It turned out to be smooth and affordable — but there are a few details first-timers should know. So I’m sharing them all here to save you time and avoid confusion.
π️ Buying the Bus Ticket to THSR Taoyuan
- π Where: Go to Exit 5 at the Arrival Lobby of Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. The ticketing windows are right there.
- π What to buy: Ask for a UBUS #705 ticket to THSR Taoyuan Station. This is the only direct route.
- π° Ticket Price:
- Regular Fare: NT$30 (~Php45)
- Discounted Fare: NT$15 (~Php22.50)
- ⏱️ Travel Time: Around 25 minutes
- π Frequency: Every 5–10 minutes during peak hours
πΊ️ Tip: In Terminal 2, the bus boarding station is easier to locate — just head to the 1st Floor near the ATM. Follow the “Bus to High Speed Rail” signage or ask the staff when buying your ticket.
π At THSR Taoyuan Station
Once you arrive at the High Speed Rail station, you’ll likely be dropped off near Exit 3 or Exit 5.
- π« Where to Buy THSR Tickets:
- On-site at the ticketing windows (1st Floor, near Exit 5)
- Self-service ticketing machines
- π»
Online Booking: THSR Website
π¦ Early Bird Tip: Book in advance to enjoy 20% off! - π° Ticket Prices (to Taichung):
- Regular: NT$540 (~Php809.20)
- Group: NT$510 (~Php764.00)
- Early Bird: NT$432 (~Php647.00)
⏱️ Travel Time to Taichung: Approx. 40 minutes with just one stop

Schedule from Taoyuan Station to Taichung Station |
If you’re heading to Cingjing Farm, look for the Nantou Bus stops:
- πΊ️ Located just outside Exit 5 or 6 of the station (1st Floor)
- π Shuttle or Car Services: If you've booked a private car or shared shuttle, your driver will typically provide instructions on where to meet.
π Final Travel Tips from Me
- Always double-check bus schedules and THSR departure times, especially if you’re traveling on weekends or holidays.
- Consider buying an EasyCard or iPass to make your public transport rides even smoother during your Taiwan trip.
- Don’t hesitate to ask around — locals and staff at Taoyuan Airport are friendly and helpful, even with language barriers.
