π§ Of Course — Milk Tea!
Another spot we absolutely couldn’t miss was CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice, one of Taiwan’s most famous milk tea brands that helped start the bubble tea craze across Asia. Long before milk tea shops flooded Manila’s streets, CoCo was already serving perfectly balanced blends of tea, milk, and chewy pearls in Taipei.
We dropped by the CoCo Ximending Branch after exploring the lively Hanzhong Street area, and the queue was already forming outside. The aroma of freshly brewed tea was irresistible — the kind of scent that instantly makes you crave that first sip!

π₯€ My Go-To Order
I ordered my favorite CoCo Milk Tea with pearls — smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced. The sweetness level was just right (50% sugar, if you’re wondering!), and the pearls had that ideal soft-but-chewy texture that makes every sip satisfying. My travel buddy tried their Two Ladies Milk Tea (with pudding and pearls), and it was equally delightful!
Compared to other milk tea brands, CoCo’s taste feels more authentic and tea-forward — you can really taste the rich black tea base rather than just sugary milk. It’s a reminder that this brand started in 1997 in Tamsui, Taiwan, and continues to be a favorite among locals and tourists alike.
π 2025 Update: CoCo in the Philippines
As of 2025, CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice has grown massively in the Philippines, with over 60+ branches nationwide — from Metro Manila to Cebu and Davao. You can now enjoy your favorite Taiwanese milk tea without flying to Taipei! π
Still, there’s something special about drinking it at its home country — surrounded by Ximending’s neon lights, music, and lively crowd. Maybe it’s nostalgia, or maybe milk tea just tastes better when you’re on vacation. π
π‘ Travel Tip:
- Try “Pearl Milk Tea” or “Two Ladies” for the best experience.
- Customize your drink: adjust sugar (0–100%) and ice levels to your taste.
- If you’re visiting in summer, go for their refreshing fruit teas like Lemon Yakult or Passionfruit Green Tea.
π Whether it’s your first time in Taipei or your tenth, grabbing a cup of CoCo Milk Tea at Ximending is a must-do. It’s more than just a drink — it’s part of the Taiwanese street experience. Every sip tells a story of where bubble tea culture began — right here in Taiwan. π§πΉπΌ
