🧳 Smooth Transfers at Taiwan’s Taoyuan Airport (TPE): T1 ↔ T2
Transferring between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) is incredibly convenient — whether you're catching a connecting flight or simply trying to meet friends on the other side. During my layover here, I was honestly impressed by how well-signed, clean, and efficient everything was.
If you’re flying international and your next flight departs from a different terminal — no worries! Here are three easy ways to move between terminals, plus where you can rest while waiting.
🚶 ON FOOT (Approx. 15–20 minutes)
If you're up for a leisurely walk and want to stretch your legs after a flight:
- The Arrival Floors in the Restricted Zone connect both terminals.
- Zones A and D, and Zones B and C, are directly connected.
- Just follow the concourse hallways between terminals — you'll even pass by art installations and airport displays.
- Time estimate: Around 15 to 20 minutes
✅ Best for: Passengers with plenty of time and no mobility issues
🚌 TERMINAL SHUTTLE BUS (5:00 AM to 1:10 AM)
If you’re tired or carrying heavy luggage:
- The airport provides a FREE shuttle bus between terminals for passengers and airport staff.
- Operates from 5:00 AM to 1:10 AM, every 10–30 minutes
- Schedule adjusts depending on flight arrivals and departures
🛑 Note: If you're short on time or your next flight is in a different terminal, this is your easiest choice without walking.
🚝 SKYTRAIN (6:00 AM – 12:00 Midnight, then on-call)
My favorite way to transfer — fast, fun, and futuristic!
- Runs between Terminals 1 and 2 via Departure Hall level
- Trains run every 2–4 minutes during peak and 4–8 minutes off-peak
- After hours (12:00 AM–6:00 AM), press the “Night Time Train” button at the platform to call one
✅ Best for: Most travelers — it’s quick and smooth with great airport views
💤 RESTING AREAS for Transferring Passengers
Taoyuan Airport also makes it easy to relax between flights. Here’s where you can unwind:
- 🛋️ Terminal 1: Transfer Resting Area on the 2nd Floor
- 🛏️ Terminal 2:
- 13 reclining chairs at Zone D (3rd Floor Departure Hall)
- Shi Shi Ru Yuan (柿柿如苑) Resting Area at 4th Floor Transfer Hall
- 🪑 Reclining chairs available at every boarding gate (3–4 per gate)
- 🏨 Transit Hotels: Available for passengers flying on their national airlines (check if you're eligible)
💡 I personally loved chilling at Shi Shi Ru Yuan — quiet, clean, and with beautiful traditional touches.
✨ Friendly Advice
