Cebu and Bohol are neighboring islands in the Visayas region of the Philippines, and getting between them is convenient, scenic, and affordable via ferry. Depending on your destination in Bohol—Panglao Island or the Chocolate Hills route—you can choose between Tagbilaran Port and Tubigon Port.

🧳 Step-by-Step Ferry Travel Guide

Starcraft's Ticketing Window

🏨 From Your Hotel in Cebu

  1. πŸš• Take a taxi or Grab to your chosen ferry's ticketing office (usually outside the port).

πŸ“ Tip: Buy tickets ahead of time. Most ticket offices are NOT inside the terminal.

  1. 🧾 Buy Tickets from your chosen shipping line:
    • OceanJet – Pier 1
    • MV Starcraft – Pier 2
    • Weesam Express – Pier 4
  2. 🎫 Pay the Terminal Fee at the port entrance (25 as of 2025).
  3. πŸ›„ Baggage Check & Boarding
    • Show your ticket to the guards.
    • Place luggage in the x-ray scanner.
    • Proceed to the waiting area.

🏁 Which Port to Choose?

πŸ“ Tagbilaran Port – Best if your destination is Panglao Island, Alona Beach, or Dumaluan Beach.

πŸ“ Tubigon Port – Best if you plan to visit Chocolate Hills, Sagbayan Peak, or other inland attractions first.

🧭 Tip: Most Bohol inland attractions are along the Tubigon–Tagbilaran route, making Tubigon a great starting point for a day tour.

🧑 Our Experience with MV Starcraft

Starcraft Passenger's Seats

We rode the MV Starcraft twice—from Cebu to Tubigon—and loved the experience. The terminal was organized, clean, air-conditioned, and had surprisingly fast Wi-Fi!

πŸ“Œ Travel tip:
Starcraft issues manual receipts, so the line can be slow. Fall in line at least 15–30 minutes early to avoid delays.

🚐 Upon Arrival in Bohol

πŸ›» Commute Options

  • Tricycles are available outside both Tubigon and Tagbilaran ports.
  • From the town proper, you can ride jeepneys or vans to key destinations.

πŸš— Private Transfers

If you're traveling as a group, it’s easier to book a van or car in advance to pick you up at the port and take you on a customized day tour.

πŸ’‘ Final Travel Tips

Bring an umbrella or fan — Most ticketing booths are not air-conditioned.
Don’t expect nightlife at Tubigon — Head to Panglao for beach bars.
Buy pasalubong (souvenirs) at the terminal stalls before boarding.
Terminal restrooms and seating are great—some of the best I’ve seen in the Philippines!
For senior citizens, only one ticket per ID can be processed at the priority lane.

πŸ“Έ Then vs. Now: Tubigon Port

πŸ–Ό️ 2013 – Still recovering from past storms and less developed.

πŸ–Ό️ 2016–2025 – Now organized, cleaner, and more tourist-friendly with improved facilities and transport options.
