The Bantay Bell Tower, also known as Bantay Tower (meaning "to guard" in Ilocano), once stood as a watchtower against pirate attacks during the Spanish colonial era. Today, it’s an iconic spot for tourists and history lovers visiting Vigan.

๐Ÿ“Œ Fun Fact: It’s the first structure you’ll notice when entering the Bantay Church compound.

⛪ Bells That Tell Stories: Wedding, Baptism, and Farewell

Climb the tower and you’ll find three ancient bells still resting atop:

  • ๐Ÿ”” Wedding Bell – Left side
  • ๐Ÿ”” Baptismal Bell – Right side
  • ๐Ÿ”” Funeral Bell – Center, once used to mourn the departed

๐Ÿ‘ฃ According to the caretaker, each bell still resonates with its unique past.

๐ŸŒ„ Climb With Caution, Stay for the View

Yes, the stairs are old, creaky, and wooden — and they will squeak under your feet. But don’t let that scare you off. The panoramic view of Vigan and the surrounding landscapes from the top is breathtaking.

๐ŸŒค️ Once at the summit, you’ll understand why this was the ideal spot to keep watch — and maybe even feel a sense of calm.

๐Ÿ“ธ Photography Tip: Capture the view of the church from above for a postcard-worthy angle.
