Also known locally as the Kiarong Mosque, the Jame'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque is the largest and most magnificent mosque in Brunei Darussalam. Built in 1992 to commemorate the 25th year of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s reign, this grand structure stands as a glowing symbol of faith, royalty, and architectural splendor.
✨ Architectural Marvel with 29 Golden Domes

This stunning mosque features 29 golden domes, a tribute to the 29th Sultan of Brunei. At night, the mosque is bathed in warm golden light, making it appear like a flame rising from the suburbs of Bandar Seri Begawan. The mosque's four terrazzo-tiled minarets tower above the Kiarong district and can be seen from afar—especially breathtaking during sunset or when lit after dusk.
๐ Jaw-Dropping Interior
The interior? Absolutely jaw-dropping.
Imagine intricately woven carpets, detailed mosaics, towering columns, and a prayer hall so vast that your voice echoes across it. I was fortunate enough to step inside, thanks to a kind staff member who allowed me to use their restroom. Though I couldn't take photos (respecting their no-photography policy), I still remember the feeling of awe walking through the mosque’s marbled corridors.

One highlight was seeing the private escalator used by the Sultan himself—an elegant, almost regal feature located just a few minutes’ walk from the main entrance. This section is not always accessible to the public, but it’s still visible if you walk toward the right side of the mosque after entering.
๐ How to Get There

If you’re staying at Jubilee Hotel, this mosque is included in their complimentary 45-minute city viewing tour. However, take note that it's literally just a drive-by tour, so you won’t be able to stop for photos unless you visit independently.

To visit the mosque on your own:
