📝 Personal Note: I didn’t get to try the buses or even the Ding Ding Tram because we were always rushing. But if you’ve got time and want to experience local culture, buses are a great option!

🚖 Taxis – Door-to-Door Convenience

Taxi Stand: Just follow the signs after exiting customs (turn left from Airport Express and go down)

Fare: Based on distance (plus extras)

  • Luggage Fee: HK$5 per item
  • Tunnel/Toll Fees: Additional (we once paid HK$70 extra unknowingly!)

💡 Tip: Always print your destination address in Chinese characters. Most drivers understand basic English, but it’s better to be sure.

🚖 Taxi Color Codes:

  • 🔴 Red: Urban taxis (can go anywhere including the airport and Tung Chung)
  • 🟢 Green: New Territories taxis (limited to N.T. areas)
  • 🔵 Blue: Lantau taxis (serve Lantau Island and the airport)

🚗 Uber – Convenient, But Pricey

Yes, Uber works in Hong Kong, and while it’s convenient, many locals and travelers report mixed experiences. It’s best used when public transportation is unavailable or inconvenient.

💡 Note: Surge pricing can apply, and wait times may be longer compared to taxis or MTR.

🎫 Book in Advance and Save
