๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ณ Our Last Night in Brunei: Teh Tarik, Filipino Warmth & a Night Stroll at The Mall in Gadong ๐Ÿ™️๐Ÿด

Our last night in Brunei was meant to be chill — a stroll through a night market and maybe a quick bite before flying back to Manila. What we didn’t expect was how something so simple — like a cup of Teh Tarik — could leave such a lasting impression. This post is about the unexpected warmth, a little bit of shopping, and our encounter with fellow Filipinos in the heart of Gadong.

๐Ÿ›️ A Quick Visit to Pasar Malam & The Mall, Gadong

We first stopped by Pasar Malam Gadong, one of the most well-known night markets in Brunei. It was still early, so many stalls weren't open yet, and the food choices were limited. Since our driver had already left, we decided to walk to The Mall, which was just nearby.

๐Ÿ“ The Mall is located in Gadong, Brunei's busiest commercial district. It's the largest shopping center in the country, offering both local and international brands — from cosmetics to watches.

๐Ÿ› Dining at The Mall’s Food Court — With a Filipino Twist ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ❤️

Since we had time before our flight, we did a little window shopping before heading to the food court. The food stalls were unfamiliar, and we honestly had no idea what to try. So we did what every tourist does: order by the pictures.

To our surprise, the staff at the stall we picked were Filipinos! ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ They were so helpful — not only did they recommend what to eat, but one of them insisted we try Teh Tarik, Brunei’s famous milk tea. Even though we already had fruit juice, he gave it to us for free, just because we’re kababayans.

It wasn’t the first time a local had offered us something for free — people in Brunei were consistently kind and generous. ๐Ÿ™

The food? Honestly, it tasted a lot like what we have in the Philippines — comforting but nothing too out of the ordinary. But the Teh Tarik? Smooth, rich, frothy — I fell in love with it instantly. I even found a place in Manila that sells it, and I go back whenever I can. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿต
