๐Ÿข Tamu Selera Brunei: Street Food, Satay & Local Vibes at Appetite Park ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ณ

Unplanned detours often make the best travel memories.

While walking to the Catholic Church in Bandar Seri Begawan, we stumbled upon Tamu Selera — an old-school food court nestled under colorful parasols, buzzing with local life. After mass, we decided to drop by for dinner... and I’m so glad we did.

๐Ÿฎ What is Tamu Selera?

Tamu Selera, which literally means "Appetite Park", is a hawker-style food center tucked away in a leafy park.

Think:
๐Ÿช‘ Open-air seating
๐ŸŒฌ️ Ceiling fans spinning lazily
๐ŸŒˆ Tarps and parasols in bright colors
๐Ÿ› A row of food stalls serving Malaysian, Indonesian, and local Bruneian dishes

It’s a true cultural gem — loud, lively, and filled with smells that pull you in from every direction.

๐Ÿฝ️ Our Experience: Food Roulette

Since we didn’t know the names of the dishes, we did the next best thing:
๐Ÿ‘€ Look at what others were eating and point to what looked good.

Spoiler alert: some dishes looked better than they tasted ๐Ÿ˜…
But that's all part of the charm, right?

My advice:
✔️ Stick to safe bets like satay, fried chicken, or noodles
✔️ Or better yet — bring a local friend or guide!

๐Ÿ›‘ Communication is tricky since many stall owners speak limited English. But smiles and hand gestures go a long way!

๐ŸŒƒ Why You Should Visit

Whether you're an adventurous eater, a budget-conscious traveler, or just want to eat where the locals do — Tamu Selera is a must-visit.

๐Ÿ’ธ Prices start at just B$1
๐Ÿง‘‍๐Ÿณ Operated by locals
๐ŸŽฏ Authentic Bruneian night market vibe
๐ŸŽ’ Popular with backpackers and curious tourists alike

You won't just eat here — you’ll experience Brunei through its street food.
