π️ First Impressions: A Simple, Secluded Escape
We arrived way too early at Caluwayan Beach Resort, eager to rest after the long ride from Tacloban. But take note: check-in is strictly at 2:00 PM—no exceptions. So we waited it out under the shade of monobloc chairs near the beach, soaking in the sea breeze, napping a little, and of course, snapping a few photos. π
The resort looks modest at first glance, but it hides a peaceful vibe perfect for disconnecting from the city hustle.
π° Rates & Accommodation
π️ Room Rate: ₱1,100.00 per person
π
Check-in Time: Strictly 2:00 PM
π♀️ Includes access to
swimming pool and kayaking
π½️
Food: Delicious but slightly pricey
π‘ Tip: Bring bottled water and snacks before checking in. Meals can be heavy on the wallet if you're staying long.
π½️ What to Eat (and What to Bring!)
The food? Surprisingly good—just a bit on the pricey side.
If you're craving something indulgent, they have burger, fries, and banana
split on the menu. A must-try combo:
✅
Calamares
✅
Fish Kinilaw with Grilled Pork
π₯€ Budget Tip: Bring your own drinking water and light snacks, especially if you're on a budget or traveling as a group.
πΆ Kayaking & Island Tour
π£ Kayaking is free but must be scheduled ahead so they can assign a boatman. They'll take you to nearby islets, where you can swim or fish.
π️ Island Hopping: We tried it the next morning—₱980.00 per boat. Honestly? Not worth the price.
- The rock formations were stunning, but
- The islands had shells and gravel, not ideal for beach lounging or swimming
π‘ Pro Tip: Just arrange a short boat tour for sightseeing. Don’t expect powdery beaches here.

π How to Get There
π» From Tacloban City,
ride a van bound for Marabut or Basey and ask to be dropped off
at Caluwayan Beach Resort.
π¬
Or, rent a private van for more flexibility and comfort if you're in a group.
𧳠While Caluwayan Beach Resort may not have the fancy bells and whistles, it delivers a quiet and scenic experience—perfect if you're just looking to unplug and be near nature. I wouldn’t recommend it for pure beach bumming, but if you’re into kayaking, peaceful mornings, or rock formation photography, this could be your spot.
