π₯’ 8:00 AM – Breakfast at Jade CafΓ©, Silka Seaview Hotel
We woke up a bit groggy from the previous day but eager to
explore again. It’s always a good idea to wake up early when traveling—not just
to catch hotel breakfasts, but to maximize your day. Our hotel stay at Silka
Seaview included one free breakfast, so we had to pay extra for my friend.
There was a language barrier with the cafΓ© staff, which led to a funny moment
where she almost blocked my friend from entering. The food wasn’t great, but
hey, at least we tried it.
π‘ Travel Tip: If
your hotel breakfast doesn’t appeal to you, don’t be shy to try nearby local
eateries. Just look for picture menus or bring a translation app!

π§♀️ 9:00 AM – Nan Lian
Garden: A Serene Sanctuary
From Yau Ma Tei MTR Station, we took a quick ride to Diamond Hill Station. Nan Lian Garden, located right next to Chi Lin Nunnery, was one of my favorite spots in Hong Kong. It’s quiet, peaceful, and feels like a world away from the city’s chaos. The manicured bonsais, koi ponds, and the Golden Pavilion are straight out of a painting.
π Try This: There’s a vegetarian teahouse and a juice shop that sells freshly squeezed orange juice near the garden entrance—refreshing and cheap!

Nunnery: Wooden Wonder & Spiritual Silence
After exploring the garden, we crossed over to Chi Lin Nunnery, a Buddhist complex with stunning Tang Dynasty architecture. It’s amazing how it was built entirely of wood without a single nail! It’s best to visit early to avoid the crowd and to take in the tranquil atmosphere.
π Note: Read up a bit on the nunnery’s background before visiting. It will make your experience more meaningful.

Wong Tai Sin Temple: Wishes & Incense
We took one quick MTR stop from Diamond Hill to Wong Tai Sin Station. Although this wasn’t a priority on our list, we had some time before heading to Disneyland. The temple was packed with devotees from Mainland China. My friend wasn’t too happy with the smoke from the incense, but I personally loved the smell—it felt sacred and immersive.
π―️ Did You Know? Wong Tai Sin Temple is famous for answering prayers. People even consult their fortune using kau cim (fortune sticks).

π° 12:00 PM – Hong Kong Disneyland: Dreams Come to Life
After our spiritual detour, we made our way to the happiest
place on earth! It took about an hour of MTR transfers, but it was all worth
it. I may not be a super fan of Mickey and friends, but I was giddy taking
pictures with Stitch and Woody. Sadly, I missed Buzz Lightyear—he
went on a break just as I got there! π
π’ Tip: Plan your
must-see attractions in advance because you can’t cover everything in a day. We
were there from noon to evening and still missed some areas!
π I skipped the fireworks because we left early to avoid the closing rush. No regrets though—being able to rest early felt like a win.

Too tired to go out, we just crashed in our room and prepared for our final day. It’s okay to skip the night scene—Hong Kong gave us enough magic during the day.
