Apolinario de la Cruz, better known as Hermano Pule, was born in Lucban, Quezon in 1814. Barred from entering priesthood due to his race, he founded the Cofradía de San José—a religious brotherhood for Filipinos. His movement was crushed by Spanish authorities in 1841, and he was executed for leading what they deemed a religious rebellion.

Located right next to Dumaluan Beach Resort, this casual grill offers fresh seafood, meat options, and vegetables—all cooked the way you want them. While I can’t compare it with other restaurants in Panglao (since we didn’t try the others), the crowd says it all—this place is always packed.
🍯 First Impressions: Rainy Skies and Fresh Air
When we arrived at Bohol Bee Farm, it had just rained—and everything felt fresh, cozy, and serene. The cool air and misty skies gave the farm a nostalgic vibe, especially for someone like me who grew up in the province. It felt like going home.
Cebu and Bohol are neighboring islands in the Visayas region of the Philippines, and getting between them is convenient, scenic, and affordable via ferry. Depending on your destination in Bohol—Panglao Island or the Chocolate Hills route—you can choose between Tagbilaran Port and Tubigon Port.
When our flight back to Manila wasn't available directly from Bohol, we returned to Cebu and spent our last night at Summit Circle Hotel, instead of our original plan to rebook at Sampaguita Suites. Why the change? Our friend, who was supposed to join us, already had a reservation here—so we gave it a try.
When you hear “Panglao,” your mind probably jumps straight to white sand beaches, diving spots, or the sunset over Alona. Mine did too—until I found myself standing quietly in front of this old coral stone church, not far from the market, far from the crowds. And I thought, How did I miss this before?
