🌏 A Landmark of Clean Energy
Commonly known as the Bangui Windmills, this site holds the distinction of being Southeast Asia’s first power-generating wind farm. Built in response to power shortages from the National Power Corporation, the project was an innovative solution harnessing Ilocos Norte’s natural advantage: its location along the monsoon belt, where strong sea winds are frequent and consistent.

🌊 A Perfect Setting for
Wind Power
Set against the stunning backdrop of Bangui Bay, the turbines stretch in a single-row formation along the shoreline—a mesmerizing sight when viewed from the beach. The site was chosen not only for its strong coastal winds but also because it is uninhabited, with no dense trees or settlements nearby, making it ideal for clean energy development with minimal environmental disruption.
😲 First Impressions:
Giant Sculptures Against Sky & Sea
What struck me most was the sheer size of the turbines. Seeing them for the first time was surreal—these modern giants towering above the coast, with the blue-green ocean on one side and endless sky on the other. It’s the kind of view that makes you feel tiny yet awestruck.
Sadly, we didn’t stay long, so I wasn’t able to explore the shoreline or take photos from the beach. But I’ll definitely be back—to walk along the shore, snap a photo of those turbines in a perfect row, and just take it all in.
