π₯Ύ The Journey to Bomod-Ok Falls
Bomod-Ok, which means “big” in the local dialect, truly lives up to its name. It’s one of Sagada’s most visited attractions—and not just because of its size, but because of the scenic journey to reach it.
To get there, you’ll:
- πΆ♀️ Walk along narrow trails built into rice paddies
- 𧱠Descend stone-walled terraces—steep and slippery when wet
- πΎ Pass through Banga-an village, where you’ll glimpse local culture
- πΏ Be surrounded by lush greenery and postcard-worthy views throughout the hike
The trek can be tiring, especially under the sun or during rainy days—but the experience is unforgettable.
π‘ Quick Tips for Your Bomod-Ok Falls Adventure
π§₯ Wear light and
quick-dry clothing
π
Use trekking shoes or sandals with good grip
π
Bring extra clothes & a small towel
π₯€
Stay hydrated—bring your own water
π·
Don't forget your camera—the trek is scenic from start to finish
πͺͺ
Hire a local tour guide—it’s required and helps support the community
π¬
Join other groups to split the guide fee and make new friends
⚠️ Heads up: Access may be restricted during planting or harvest season out of respect for local traditions. Always ask your guide beforehand.
π§ The Freezing Dip Worth Braving
When we went, it was rainy season, and the water was icy cold—below 15°C! ❄️
Despite the chill, the temptation to swim was too strong. The falling water was as white as cotton, powerful and beautiful. We couldn’t resist dipping in the natural basin.
But prepare for:
- ❄️ Goosebumps before you're even waist-deep
- πͺ¨ Slippery rocks—walk slowly and carefully
- π§♀️ No changing rooms—you’ll have to change behind rocks or stay wet for the trek back
π‘ Pro Tip: Waterproof bags and a change of clothes will save you!
π§ Getting There: Why You Need a Guide
You cannot go without a guide, and honestly—you wouldn’t want to.
- πΆ♂️ The route winds through local paths and villages
- π A guide ensures you respect customs and avoid restricted areas
- πΈ Guide rates are per group, so you can share the cost with other travelers
π¬ Meeting people from different provinces and even countries is part of the fun. Who knows? You might end up with lifelong travel buddies.
