Sagada may be a small mountain town in the Cordillera region, but don't let its size fool you—most of its attractions are truly one-of-a-kind. And since it's quite far from Manila, you’ll want to make the most of your visit.
🗺️ Tip: You can cover most of Sagada’s main attractions in just two days, but you’ll need to start early and be ready to keep going until late!
🍊 A Highlight of Our Trip: Orange Picking at Rock Farm
One of the most unexpectedly fun things we did in Sagada was orange picking at Rock Farm, and the timing couldn't have been better. We were there in mid-November, just in time for the picking season (November to February).
I didn’t even know Sagada oranges were sold at such high prices in supermarkets—until I started picking them myself!
🌙 Nighttime Picking, Sweet Surprises
It was already dark when we got there, but the excitement didn’t fade one bit. The staff gave us headlights, briefed us on what to look for, and let us go wild in the orchard.
🔦 Travel Tip:
If you’re visiting late in the day, don’t worry—night picking is possible and
honestly, even more fun under the stars!
✅ Oranges cost only ₱50 per kilo
✅
You can eat as many as you want while picking
✅
You only pay for what you bring out!
😄 Pure Fun with Friends
This was the part of the trip where we just let loose. I remember hearing friends shout “Ang dami dito!” and I’d run over to their spot, laughing and picking with them.
Every few steps, I’d get confused where to start because everywhere I looked, the trees were loaded with bright, juicy oranges. Honestly, it was hard not to just stop and eat more than I picked! 🍊😂
🧡 The best part? The
laughter.
Every few seconds, someone would yell in excitement or tease each other about
who picked the most or the biggest. It felt like we were kids again.
🧺 Sweet, Juicy, and Worth Carrying Home
I didn’t pick too many because I didn’t want to carry a heavy bag back to Manila. (Regret alert!) Next time, I’ll pick more because those oranges were:
- 🍊 Sweet and super juicy
- 🍊 Way fresher than store-bought
- 🍊 Much cheaper at the source
So here’s a piece of advice from me—bring a big eco bag and take home a few kilos!
🕰️ A Minor Wait... But Worth It!
The only downside was the waiting time at the cashier. There was only one, so we had to wait a while. Good thing the waiting area had cool antique displays and places to sit. It gave us time to cool down and swap stories about what we picked.
🍓 Next Time: Strawberries, Please!
This was hands down one of the highlights of our Sagada trip. If I ever get the chance to go back, I’d love to do this again—and maybe add strawberry picking to the list!
