🌊 Ever Wondered What It’s Like to Walk on the Ocean Floor?
Well, you can stop wondering—because in Boracay, you can actually walk on the sea bed with Helmet Diving. It's perfect even if you’re not a diver!
I’ve heard so many things about this activity that I made sure to try it when we visited the island. One of my friends was hesitant at first (thanks to a few scary online reviews), but we convinced her—and it ended up being one of the most fun parts of our trip!
💸 How We Got the Deal
We booked this as part of a combo package:
-
✅ Parasailing
-
✅ ATV Adventure
-
✅ Helmet Diving
All for just ₱2,200 per person. Not bad compared to the standard rate of ₱1,500 just for Helmet Diving alone.
🏝️ The Experience: From Briefing to Breathing Underwater
After Parasailing, we were taken to a barge station floating on the sea—this is where Helmet Diving begins.
📋 Step 1: Safety Briefing
Before the dive, we had a short but clear orientation. The instructors taught us:
-
Basic underwater hand signals
-
What to do if you feel ear pressure
-
How to equalize underwater using the nose pinch technique
⚖️ Step 2: The Helmet
The helmet weighs around 30 kg (55 lbs), but you won’t feel it underwater. Once you're neck-deep, the helmet is gently placed on your head as you descend a ladder to about 10 feet.
At first, I felt disoriented when my feet touched the ocean floor. But after a few nose pinches to relieve the pressure—I was fine and started enjoying the view!
📸 Fun, Fish, and Photos!
There were two divers with us:
-
One handled my own underwater camera for personal shots
-
The other guided us and used their professional camera for silly and posed shots
🎉 The best part? Feeding the fish!
Once the soft bread comes out, dozens of fish appear around you, making the entire scene feel like a giant aquarium you’re inside of.
⏱️ Time Goes Fast When You’re Underwater
The session lasts only 15 minutes, but it felt even shorter because it was so much fun. I wish we could’ve stayed longer—and maybe explored coral reefs too.
If you’re lucky, there might be more vibrant marine life depending on the location. But even without that, the sensation of walking underwater is worth it.
📝 Tips for First-Timers
🧏 Listen to the briefing
🥽 Relax and breathe normally
📸 Bring your waterproof camera (or ask the diver to help)
🍞 Bring or accept the bread to feed the fish
💬 Don’t panic—it’s safer and easier than you think!
💬 Helmet Diving is a great way to experience marine life without needing diving lessons or a license. It’s beginner-friendly, thrilling, and absolutely photo-worthy.
🌟 "You don’t have to be a diver to enjoy this!"
Given the chance, I would definitely do it again.
📌 Regular Rate:
₱1,500 per person for 15 minutes
