π Not Just White Beach: Boracay’s Real Treasure Is in Its Islands
When people talk about Boracay, the first thing that comes to mind is the famous White Beach. But trust me—your Boracay experience isn’t complete without island hopping.
One of the oldest and most recommended activities in Boracay, island hopping offers a fresh look into crystal-clear waters, white-sand coves, rock formations, and lesser-known beaches.
π§ Our Island Hopping Adventure (Budget-Friendly Style)
We managed to book a ₱1,500 island hopping package for 3 people, with:
-
✅ One island stop (Ilig-Iligan Beach)
-
✅ Snorkeling session
-
π All in under 3 hours
We were hoping to visit Carabao Island like in our first trip, but the boatman explained that due to the northeast monsoon and rough waves, it wasn’t safe that day.
π΄ Stop 1: Snorkeling Near Crystal Cove
Before heading to the beach, we did snorkeling near Crystal Cove Island. The water was a little rough, but the experience was still exciting!
πΈ I asked the boatman if we could stop for a photo at Crystal Cove. He said it wasn’t part of our package, but I managed to snap a few pictures from a distance anyway.
π‘ Pro Tip: If you want to stop at Crystal Cove, clarify with your tour provider beforehand!
π️ Stop 2: Ilig-Iligan Beach – A Peaceful Retreat
Located northeast of Boracay, Ilig-Iligan Beach is a quiet alternative to White Beach. It's perfect for:
-
π Calm swimming
-
π§♀️ Private moments
-
π Shell picking
-
π€³ Beach selfies without photobombers!
It has the same powdery white sand, but without the crowd. I loved swimming here more than White Beach because it was so serene.
Pack Smart & Snack Smart
I forgot to check if there were food stalls around, so bring snacks and water just to be safe! Island hopping might not always land you on a beach with a restaurant.
π₯₯ Fun bonus: There are locals selling accessories at Ilig-Iligan. Prices are reasonable, so it’s a great way to support the community if you have some spare cash.

π️ Carabao Island (from a Previous Trip)
Though we couldn’t visit this time, Carabao Island was the highlight of our first Boracay trip. The waters were crystal-clear and the beach was less developed—perfect for a rustic escape. If you ever get the chance, Carabao is worth the longer ride.
