πŸ–️ La Luz Beach Resort – My Peaceful Beach Escape in Laiya, San Juan, Batangas

πŸ–️ My First Time at Laiya — Why I Fell in Love with La Luz

Laiya in San Juan, Batangas has long been one of my favorite beach getaways—especially back when spontaneous weekend trips didn’t break the bank. Its fine white sand (made of crushed shells) makes the shoreline feel soft under your feet, though the water gets rocky and dips unexpectedly.

The first time I went to La Luz Beach Resort, I was instantly sold. It felt so private, relaxing, and disconnected from the city. There was no TV in the room, and honestly, that made the experience even better. You’re forced (in the best way) to tune out and just be.

My Favorite Moments (and Real Throwbacks)

First trip (long ago!): Just an overnight stay with friends. I still remember the breakfast buffet and strong kapeng Barako. I even made a joke about looking for a "Barako"—but not just the coffee. πŸ˜„

Second trip (different barkada): This was special. We walked the shore, watched the fishermen pull in their morning catch, and even climbed rock formations beyond the resort. I felt like we were part of the place.

Third trip (department meeting/day tour): Yes, we actually had a meeting first. But once that was done? Beach time! I remember walking along the shoreline in the evening. The wind on my face + sound of waves = heaven.

Fourth trip (company outing): HR arranged a team-building activity with games, group lunch, and of course, photo ops! Some people didn’t swim, but everyone enjoyed.

πŸ“Έ Little Things I Still Remember

Watching kids play freely near the beach—while we pay to enjoy it, they live it daily.

Locals not allowed near private areas. I saw staff gently stopping some walking vendors. It made me feel conflicted, but I understand it's policy.

Sinking sea floor! The water dips fast near the shore and is rocky. I only swam a couple of times—usually I stayed in a cabana or just strolled barefoot at dawn.

πŸ“ Tips Before You Book

Best for groups: Prices are much more reasonable if you’re 4 or more. Couples might find it pricey for what’s included.

Book early during summer: La Luz can fill up quickly especially on weekends and holidays.

No TVs in rooms: And that’s a good thing. It’s meant for you to connect with nature and people.

Bring slippers for swimming: The rocks in the water can hurt your feet if you're not prepared.

You can buy fresh fish in the morning if you’re near the shore when fishermen arrive—but only if you’ve got storage to bring it home.

Don’t walk back late from the shore: It can get pitch dark. Bring a flashlight or stay close to lit areas.

🚢‍♀️ Slow Walks & Quiet Discoveries

If you have extra time while visiting La Luz, don’t just stay inside the resorttake a walk around the nearby streets. You’d be surprised at what you’ll stumble upon. Local snack vendors, cozy sari-sari stores, kids playing traditional Filipino games, or even fishermen mending their nets—all simple, real-life snapshots that make the trip feel more authentic.

You may think it's all about the beach, but walking through the quiet streets of Hugom adds another layer to your Laiya experience. Trust me—it’s worth a few extra minutes.
