πŸ™️ How to Get to Taipei 101 (MRT Guide + Observatory Tips for First Timers)

Taipei 101 was one of the destinations I was most excited about in Taiwan.

It’s one of those landmarks you instantly recognize—even if you’ve never been to Taipei before. Seeing it in person feels surreal, like finally stepping into a postcard.

Your Taiwan trip honestly isn’t complete without visiting this world-famous tower.

And the best part?

Getting there is incredibly easy, thanks to Taipei’s clean, efficient, and tourist-friendly MRT system.

πŸš† By MRT (Best and Easiest Option)

The MRT is the simplest way to reach Taipei 101.

Step-by-step:

  1. Take the Taipei MRT Red Line (Tamsui–Xinyi Line)
  2. Get off at Taipei 101 / World Trade Center Station
  3. Use Exit 4
  4. Once you exit, Taipei 101 is literally right there

πŸ“ Station Name: Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station (R03)

πŸ’‘ Tip: Exit 4 connects directly to Taipei 101 Mall, so it’s super convenient—especially during rainy days.

πŸš‰ From Taipei Main Station (Quick Route)

If you’re staying near Taipei Main Station, getting to Taipei 101 is simple:

Travel Time: Around 15–20 minutes

  1. Ride the Red Line southbound
  2. Get off at Taipei 101 Station (R03)

No complicated transfers needed.

🚢 Walking Tip (Only if You’re Nearby)

If you’re staying in the Xinyi District, walking is possible.

But Taipei blocks can be long, and the heat can sneak up on you.

🚢 Expect 20–30 minutes depending on your hotel location.

πŸ’‘ Wear comfortable shoes—Taipei is a walking city.

πŸš– By Taxi or Uber (Most Convenient)

If you’re traveling with seniors, kids, or shopping bags, taxis are a comfortable option.

πŸ“ Show this to the driver:

πŸ’° Estimated fare from central Taipei: NT$150–NT$300
(depending on traffic)

Taipei taxis are safe, metered, and easy to find.

🚌 By Bus (Budget-Friendly Option)

Several city buses stop near Taipei 101, especially from:

  • Taipei Main Station
  • Zhongshan Area
  • Da’an District

🚌 But for tourists, MRT is still the easiest way.

🎟️ Arrival + Observatory Tips

Once you arrive, Taipei 101 is more than just a tower—it’s also a mall, a food hub, and a full experience.

What we did:

🍜 We had lunch at the food court first
There are so many choices you won’t know what to pick.

πŸ’‘ My advice:
Go for something familiar—or just follow your instinct.

After lunch…

🎫 We headed to the Observatory Ticket Area on the 5th Floor

Then came the highlight:

πŸš€ The fastest elevator ride ever
In just 37–38 seconds, you reach the observatory deck.

It’s a must-try experience on its own.
