πŸŒƒ How to Get to Ximending Night Market (Taipei MRT Guide + Tips)

Ximending was one of the most energetic places we visited in Taipei.

If Shilin Night Market feels like a giant food bazaar, Ximending feels like Taipei’s youth district—a mix of street food, fashion, pop culture, neon lights, and nonstop movement.

It reminded me a little of Harajuku in Japan… but with Taiwanese snacks on every corner.

Even if you’re tired from sightseeing, Ximending is the kind of place that wakes you up again.

πŸš† By MRT (Best and Easiest Option)

Getting to Ximending is extremely easy because it’s located right in the city center.

Step-by-step:

  1. Take the Taipei MRT Blue Line (Bannan Line)
  2. Get off at Ximen Station
  3. Use Exit 6 (most popular exit)
  4. Once you’re out, you’re already in the heart of Ximending

πŸ“ Station Name: Ximen Station (BL11 / G12)
(Also connected to the Green Line)

πŸ’‘ Tip: Ximen is a major station, so it’s hard to miss.

πŸš‰ From Taipei Main Station (Super Quick Route)

If you’re staying near Taipei Main Station, you’re very close.

Travel time: 3–5 minutes

  1. Ride the Blue Line westbound
  2. Get off at Ximen Station (1 stop away)

Perfect for an easy evening trip.

🚢 Walking Tip (If You’re Nearby)

If you’re staying in Zhongzheng District or near Taipei Main Station, walking is possible.

🚢 Around 15–20 minutes on foot

But at night, the MRT is still more comfortable—especially if you plan to shop or eat a lot.

πŸš– By Taxi or Uber (Most Convenient)

Taxi is a good option if you’re traveling late or carrying shopping bags.

πŸ’° Estimated fare from central Taipei: NT$150–NT$300
(depending on traffic)

🚌 By Bus (Budget-Friendly Option)

Many city buses pass through Ximending since it’s a central district.

However, bus signs can be confusing for tourists, so MRT is still the easiest choice.

Entrance Fee: Free
🍜 Come hungry — street food is everywhere
πŸ›️ Great place for shopping, souvenirs, sneakers, and cosmetics
🎭 Expect street performers and crowds, especially on weekends
πŸ“Έ Best time to visit: 6 PM onwards

🌸 Taipei’s Nightlife in One District

Ximending is more than just a night market.

It’s where Taipei feels young, loud, colorful, and alive.

Even if you don’t buy anything, walking through the lights, hearing the music, and tasting something new is already an experience.

It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re truly in the city.
