Getting to Taipei Zoo is actually very easy, especially because Taipei’s MRT system is so organized and tourist-friendly.
We didn’t need a taxi at all — we just followed the train lines, and before we knew it, we were already at the zoo entrance.
Here are the best ways to get there:
π By MRT (Best and Easiest Option)
The simplest way to reach Taipei Zoo is through the ΠΌΠ΅ΡΡΠΎ.
✅ Step-by-step:
- Take the Taipei MRT Brown Line (Wenhu Line)
- Get off at Taipei Zoo Station
- Once you exit the station, the zoo entrance is just a short walk away
π Station Name: Taipei
Zoo Station (BR01)
πΌ
This is the last stop of the Brown Line, so it’s hard to miss.
π‘ Tip: If you’re coming from busy areas like Ximending or Taipei Main Station, expect at least 30–45 minutes of travel with transfers.
π By Maokong Gondola + Zoo Visit Combo
If you want a more scenic experience, you can combine your zoo trip with the famous Maokong Cable Car.
This is what made the journey extra memorable for me — it felt like an attraction before the attraction.
✅ How it works:
- Ride the MRT to Taipei Zoo Station
- Walk to the Maokong Gondola Station (right beside the zoo area)
- Enjoy the cable car ride up the mountains
- Then return back down to explore Taipei Zoo
π Perfect if you want to visit tea plantations and mountain views too.
π‘ Reminder: Gondola lines can get long during weekends.
π By Taxi or Uber (Most Convenient)
If you’re traveling with kids, seniors, or heavy bags, taxis are also available.
π Taxi rides within Taipei are safe and metered.
π Just show the driver this:

π° Estimated fare from
central Taipei: NT$250–NT$400
(depending on traffic)
π By Bus (Budget-Friendly Option)
Taipei Zoo is also accessible by several city buses.
π Common routes include buses from:
- Taipei Main Station
- Xinyi District
- Muzha Area
π‘ Bus signs can be confusing for first-timers, so MRT is still the easiest.

πΈ The Journey Is Part of the Experience
Getting to Taipei Zoo is honestly one of the easiest DIY travel experiences you can have in Taiwan.
What I loved most is how stress-free it felt.
We didn’t need to bargain with taxi drivers, worry about directions, or overthink the commute. We simply followed Taipei’s MRT lines, and before we knew it…
πΌ we were already standing at the entrance of one of the biggest zoos in Asia.
And if you choose to take the Maokong Gondola too, the trip becomes even more special—because the ride itself already feels like part of the adventure.
Sometimes, the best travel memories start not inside the attraction…
…but on the way there. π✨
