How to Get to Nan Lian Garden & Chi Lin Nunnery?

One of my favorite attractions in Hong Kong is the Nan Lian Garden & Chi Lin Nunnery. It's very peaceful, quiet and relaxing. I can just stay there all day, reminiscing or just taking in the beauty of the place.

It's a on top my list of what to see while in Hong Kong. If ever you have enough time, make sure to pay a visit. The garden is located near the Diamond Hill MTR Station.

Please find below on how to get there from Silka Seaview Hotel.
  • Walk from Silka Seaview Hotel to Yau Ma Tei MTR Station. A leisure walk takes about 7 minutes up to the station. Please click here on how to get to Yau Ma Tei MTR Station from Silka Seaview Hotel.

  • If coming from the Airport, take Airport Express and get off at Mei Foo MTR Station. Interchange platform and take MTR to Prince Edward. Interchange platform again and take MTR to Diamond Hill Station.

  • From any other stations that don't connect to the MTR Line going to Diamond Hill (Kwon Tung Line), you can always interchange platforms. Please click the image below for the full details of the Hong Kong MTR Lines.
  • Once you arrived at Yau Ma Tei station, be very careful on hopping to the train because it's confusing if you are first timers. Read the station map on the post located in between the two rails which train to take. You can actually see it just after you descend the stairs going to the rails.

  • From Yau Ma Tei MTR station take MTR to Diamond Hill station. You can plan your itinerary with the help of their MTR website. It helped me a lot when I was preparing our itinerary. The fare and the estimated time in their website are spot on.
  • Get off at Diamond Hill and Exit at C2 to get to Nan Lian Garden. You can see the Exit signs from afar. You can always refer to the Map for all the major attractions near Diamond Hill posted on every exits if you are lost. I can't remember what Exit number we took but it's right before the entrance to the Plaza Hollywood.

  • The path leading to the garden is well signed so you will not be lost. Just follow-it, and keep left until you reach the first stop lights. Nan Lian Garden's first entrance can bee seen from there.

  • I said first entrance because it's not really the entrance to the garden, but a path leading to the main entrance. It's really amazing because it's underneath the bridge and you will not realize it until you hear the vehicles from above.

  • From there you will never be lost because the path leads only to the main entrance. This is a very quiet, clean and peaceful place so please watch yourself while touring.

  •  Walking from Diamond Hill MTR station to the garden, it took us about 7 minutes. There's no entrance fee but you still have to register before you can start the tour.
To Get to Chi Lin Nunnery from Nan Lian Garden, you can either go there first or after you explore the Garden.
