🏝️ Honda Bay Island Hopping in Puerto Princesa

"Starfish, snorkeling, and sun-soaked memories on our last day in Palawan"

Our final day in Palawan was the perfect send-off—we saved the best for last: island hopping at Honda Bay! Even though we only got to visit two islands, it was more than enough to make me want to come back.

⛵ What Is Honda Bay?

Honda Bay is a cluster of tropical islands located off the eastern coast of Puerto Princesa. It’s known for its white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and snorkeling-friendly reefs. Ideal for families, couples, and solo travelers, it’s one of the top things to do in Palawan in 2025.

πŸ“ Location: Sta. Lourdes Wharf, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan

πŸ•— Start Early for Island Hopping Fun!

We left early in the morning—and that’s my first tip for you. The earlier you go, the more islands you can visit. We joined a guided tour and only got to explore two islands, but I didn’t mind. I was just thrilled to experience snorkeling for the first time!

🀿 “They said it’s nothing compared to Coron... maybe not, but I still had an amazing time! Coron, I’m coming for you next!”

🐚 Cowrie Island – Snorkel, Sunbathe, & Chill

Named after the cowrie sea snail, Cowrie Island is the closest island to the mainland. It’s one of the most popular stops in Honda Bay and is ideal for:

  • πŸ–️ Picnics and sunbathing
  • 🀿 Snorkeling near the beach
  • πŸ“Έ Photo ops with fun props & special effects (ask the local photographers!)

Just be prepared—it gets pretty crowded, especially during peak hours. But it’s a vibe: lively music, cold drinks, and a beautiful shore.

πŸͺ§ Cowrie Island Tip: If you want a quieter experience, head to the farther end of the island away from the main cottage area.

⭐ Starfish Island – Up Close With Nature

As its name suggests, Starfish Island is famous for its abundant starfish, clearly visible even in shallow waters. I was amazed at how close you could get to them. Just remember: look, but don’t touch.

This island is quieter and more natural compared to Cowrie. Cottages are limited, but the serenity is unmatched.

🟀 Starfish Tip: Bring your own snacks and water—limited vendors here.

🌞 “You don’t need to see every island to feel the magic of Honda Bay. Sometimes, two are enough to leave you wanting more.”

Next time, I’ll aim to visit Pandan Island, Luli Island, and maybe even Snake Island—but for now, I’m just happy I got to dip into Palawan’s island life.
