If you're planning to visit the famous Puerto Princesa Underground River, chances are you'll find yourself passing through Sabang Port—a small but scenic coastal area that serves as the main entry point to one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
๐งญ Your First Stop: Sabang Port
Tent where you will stay while waiting for your turn to sail |
This is where it all begins. At Sabang Port, you’ll register, buy your tickets, and wait for your boat schedule to be called. The process is quite organized, especially in 2025 with new online booking systems helping to manage the crowds.
While you wait, you’ll be resting under large tents set up near the tourism office. The view of the beach and the sea from here is stunning—sunny skies, palm trees swaying, and that salty breeze that’s somehow both energizing and sleep-inducing.
๐ “The breeze was hot but comforting. I almost fell asleep just sitting there, lulled by the sound of the waves.”
๐️ Sabang Beach – Simple but Serene
Just before entering the reception area of the Underground River Tourism Office, you’ll spot Sabang Beach. It’s not powder-fine like other Palawan beaches, but it still boasts soft white sand, turquoise water, and a laid-back provincial charm.
๐ธ Photo Tip: Snap a photo of your feet in the sand with the blue sea as a backdrop—it's that classic “I’m in Palawan” shot.
You’ll also find this same beach where your boat will dock when you return from the Underground River tour.
๐ค Quick Note on the Tour Launch Point
Sabang Beach, just outside the Underground River |
This is also the area where you’ll board your boat going to the Underground River. It's a short but scenic ride along the coast.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to explore the beach or the surrounding area more deeply—I had to go straight to the tour. But next time, I’ll definitely carve out extra time to walk around, take photos, and maybe grab a snack or two from the nearby sari-sari stores.
๐ “Sabang felt like it had more stories to tell—I’ll make time to listen next visit.”
✅ 2025 Travel Tips for Sabang Port
- ๐ซ Book your Underground River permit online in advance. Walk-ins may not be accommodated during peak season.
- ๐ถ️ Wear light, breathable clothing – It gets hot while waiting!
- ๐ง Bring water and a light snack—you might wait a while for your boat to be called.
- ๐ท Charge your phone/camera fully before the trip. The views are worth every shot.
- ๐งด Apply sunscreen—there’s little shade outside the waiting tents.
๐ด Sabang Port and Beach may just be a transit stop for many travelers, but it's worth a moment of appreciation. With its peaceful vibe and picturesque coast, it's a preview of the natural beauty waiting for you deeper in Palawan.
๐ฌ Have you explored Sabang more than I did? Leave a comment—I’d love to hear what I missed and include it on my next visit!
