🍽️KaLui Restaurant Puerto Princesa | Must-Try Authentic Filipino Dining✨

If you ask locals and travelers alike, your trip to Puerto Princesa isn’t complete without dining at KaLui Restaurant. Trust me, it’s that good! As soon as your plane touches down, turn on your Wi-Fi and make a reservation here. While walk-ins are accepted, reservations are highly recommended because this spot is packed—even with locals.

🏡 First Impressions & Ambiance

From the outside, KaLui looks like a simple native restaurant, but step inside and you’ll be greeted by a warm, nostalgic, and very homey atmosphere. It’s surprisingly quiet despite its popularity, making it a perfect place to unwind, relax, or even sneak in some creative yoga if you want!

Note: Slippers or shoes are not allowed inside—everyone goes barefoot. Don’t worry, the floors are spotless and well-polished. They provide lockers and native baskets for your shoes and slippers near the entrance, so your feet stay comfortable and clean.

🍣 Unique Dining Experience 🥢

You can choose between sitting at regular tables and chairs or the Japanese-style floor seating. We chose the Japanese style — it felt more cozy and unique!

While waiting for your meal, take a stroll through KaLui’s art gallery adjacent to the dining area, or browse their souvenir shop for authentic Palawan keepsakes.

🌊 What to Eat: A Taste of Fresh Palawan 🍤

Appetizer: Green Mango with Bagoong and Seaweed (Lato) Salad
Kilawin (Left) | Shrimp in Garlic Butter (Right)

KaLui’s menu changes daily based on the freshest catch, but here are some highlights you absolutely must try:

  • Pako Salad — a local fern vegetable turned delicious with KaLui’s special twist. I never liked pako before, but this dish won me over!
  • Green Mango with Bagoong — tangy and savory with seaweed (lato) salad on the side
  • Kilawin — Filipino-style ceviche, fresh and zesty
  • Shrimp in Garlic Butter — a simple yet irresistible seafood treat
  • Various other fresh seafood dishes that are all incredibly tasty (honestly, everything we ordered was amazing!)

For dessert, their fresh fruit offerings are refreshing and perfect after a heavy meal.
