✨ First Impressions: A Hidden Gem Near Casa Comunidad
Mi Casa en Tayabas was on my list after reading glowing reviews—and I'm so glad I went. Located just a short walk from Casa Comunidad, this charming hotel blends local antiques with a warm, homey atmosphere.
๐ From the outside, it looks like a simple inn. But step inside, and you’ll see why this place deserves all the love.
๐ผ️ Antique Ambiance & Welcoming Vibe
As soon as I entered the orange-walled lobby, I was greeted with a unique fiery charm—accent walls highlighting beautiful heritage antiques mounted and displayed with care. You can immediately feel Tayabas’ rich cultural history echoing through the decor.
๐ธ Tip: Take a moment to explore the reception area. Each item has a story—and makes for a good conversation starter with the staff!
๐ฝ️ A Taste of Tayabas: Local Dish and Cozy Dining
It was almost lunchtime, so I decided to try their in-house restaurant. While waiting to be seated, I explored the hallway filled with old religious altars and framed memorabilia—felt like walking through someone's ancestral home.

Antique sugar cane press & measuring tools
Their dining area gave off old-Filipino house dining room vibes. What stood out? A tree growing through the roof—they designed around it, allowing it to continue growing instead of cutting it down. That alone won me over.
๐ Don’t Miss the “Tayabas Express”
I ordered their version of Bicol Express called Tayabas Express—a creamy, slightly sweet coconut-based dish that was milder than the usual Bicol version, but very flavorful. Perfect if you want the taste without the heat!
๐ถ️ Tip: If you like spicy food, ask them to kick it up a notch—they might customize it for you!
๐ป Even the Restroom Has Character
The women’s restroom had its own unique flair—just like every corner of this place. You could tell the owners were very intentional about preserving the charm of old Filipino homes.
๐ง๐ณ Friendly Staff & Unforgettable Moments
Before I left, I chatted with one of the friendly staff. He even demonstrated how the sugar cane press works—such a rare and authentic interaction that makes this hotel stand out from the rest.
๐ฌ “Next time, bring your family,” he said. And I thought, definitely.
