How to Get to Boracay from Caticlan Airport

Caticlan (Boracay) Airport is the nearest airport to Boracay Island. Most of the tourist prefer to fly here for ease and convenience. However, due to the small size of this airport's runway, only turboprop is allowed to land here.

Before you leave the airport and head to Boracay, you have to register first in the tourist counter located just beside the exit. You will be asked here also to pay the ticket for the tricycle and pump boat going to the island. We paid for a total of Php235.00 for 3 people.

Tricycles terminal just outside the airport

Tricycle terminal is located just in front of the airport and very easy to spot. Show the driver your ticket and he knows where to take you. When I first visited Boracay in May 2010, we were taken to the Caticlan Jetty Port, but this time were taken to the Tabon Jetty Port. I found out that they do this because of the weather condition.

Before you enter the port, you must pay the environmental and admission fee of Php75.00 per person. I was glad when we visited because there's no more terminal fee of Php100.00. After you paid, you can head now to the banca (pump boat).  There are boatmen who will assist you onto the boat. If you have heavy luggage, you can ask one of the porters to help you with a tip.

The boat is not exclusive for tourist only. Locals also use this boat going home to the island, so you have to be very patient. There are two ports in Boracay Island, the Cagban Port and Tambisaan Port.  They use either of these two ports depending on the weather condition.

When it's Habagat (Monsoon) and low season they use Tambisaan port. During summer and peak season, they use the Cagban Port.  When we visited last July 2014, we were dropped off at the Tambisaan Port. Sailing take more or less than 15 minutes.

Please take note that the port in Tambisaan has no bridge or anything so you'll step out from the boat to the sand and there's a possibility that your feet will get wet.

Just outside the port, there are tricycles there that will take you to the White Beach. Fare is Php100.00 per ride. You can ask the driver to drop you off at the main road near your hotel, so it's not very far when you walk. Travel time takes more or less 10 minutes.

If you don't want to walk very far and there's an available pedicab (trike), you can hire one. Fare is Php20.00 per person. You can always follow the tourists or ask for direction when you think you are lost.  Keep in mind that Boracay is a very popular place so you have to expect traffic.
