๐ฑ A Personal Restart, A Local Discovery
Hi there. It’s been a while.
This was supposed to be my first post after a long break. I’ve been quietly dealing with a few personal battles — and though I’m not completely okay yet, I’m slowly finding my way back. ✨
In between moments of stillness, I found myself revisiting old travel memories, sorting through photos, and slowly reigniting that familiar spark for writing again.
We had this simple local adventure while we were still busy with our bazaar. One long holiday gave us the perfect chance to explore — and it led us to a peaceful lakeside food park I’d never been to before, right here in Taguig.
๐ The Taxi Tip That Sparked an Unexpected Food Trip
After wrapping up our very first bazaar (yay!), we hopped into a cab heading home. The driver, noticing my husband was a foreigner, started recommending local food spots around C5 and C6 in Taguig.
He mentioned the eateries near the Palar Tunnel and along C6 Road going to Taytay — two areas I’d always passed by but never really explored.
I always thought those were just kambingan spots (goat meat places ๐), but curiosity won. So, we decided to check it out.
๐ฃ️ Mercado del Lago (a.k.a. “Mercato de Bay C6”) – First Impressions
The place is officially called Mercado del Lago, a floating food park located along the Laguna Lake Highway (C6) in Lower Bicutan, Taguig City.
Locals often call it “Mercato de Bay” or simply “C6 food park.” The name del Lago means “of the lake” in Spanish — a perfect fit since the entire place sits beside Laguna de Bay.
๐ Location:
Mercado del Lago, Laguna Lake Highway (C6), Lower Bicutan, Taguig City
๐
Hours: Most stalls open from 4:00 PM until late evening
๐
Access: Best reached by car or tricycle from central Taguig (about 15
minutes away)
๐ถ What to Expect: Floating Food Park by the Lake
Mercado del Lago is more than just a food spot — it’s a chill hangout hub for locals, complete with floating cottages, food stalls, and even live bands on weekends.
When we arrived around 5:00 PM, the breeze from the lake instantly set the mood. The area was clean, organized, and peaceful — a rare find so close to the city.
Right in front of the food park is a small playground, making it an ideal place for families with kids to enjoy an afternoon meal while the little ones play.
๐ Dining by the Water
The floating nipa huts are what make Mercado del Lago stand out. Dining here feels like a mini getaway — quiet waves, open air, and local comfort food.
Here’s how to use them:
- Order food from the stalls first
- Show your receipt to the guard
- Choose any available nipa hut (first come, first served)
- Your food will be delivered right to your hut!
๐ก Lakwatserang Tip: You can reserve huts for birthdays, reunions, or small events through Taguig City Hall. I haven’t confirmed the rates yet, but it looks perfect for casual celebrations by the water.
๐ข Food, Drinks, and Local Favorites
As the sun started to set, the smell of grilled food filled the air. We couldn’t resist trying the classics — smoky barbecue, hot rice, and ice-cold drinks.
๐ฅ What to Try:
- Pork & chicken barbecue
- Isaw, betamax, and grilled seafood
- Lutong bahay dishes like liempo, sinigang, and adobo
- Banana cue, turon, and other merienda staples
- Fresh buko juice and fruit shakes
๐ถ Bonus: There are occasional live acoustic bands on weekends — perfect for date nights or group hangouts.
๐ด Tip: Bring cash;
not all stalls accept GCash.
๐ธ
Best Shot: Golden hour by the lake, food in front, reflections in the
water.
๐ฌ More Than Just a Food Trip
I honestly thought this would just be a random stop, but it turned into something special — a quiet meal, a cool breeze, and that familiar sense of simple joy.
My boyfriend even tried isaw for the first time — and to my surprise, he liked it ๐.
More than just food, it reminded me that you don’t have to go far to feel recharged. Sometimes, healing happens in small discoveries — by the lake, with grilled barbecue, laughter, and sunset skies. ๐ค️

๐ญ This short trip to Mercado del Lago (a.k.a. Mercato de Bay C6) reminded me why I started this blog in the first place — to find joy in small adventures, whether it’s a far-flung island or a simple lakeside spot in the city.
Sometimes, the best travel moments aren’t about distance — they’re about connection, curiosity, and rediscovering home. ❤️

๐ฟ Lakwatserang Ligaw Tip“Bring a small rechargeable fan and wet wipes — it can get humid near the water, especially around 6–7 PM. If you’re planning a date night, go a bit earlier for that perfect sunset view! ๐ ”
