Our next stop for the day was Xinshe Castle, also known as The Summit Resort, and honestly, I was extra excited about this one! From the photos I’d seen online, it looked absolutely magical — especially the waterfalls cascading beside the stone bridges. It took us about 30 minutes to get here from the Lavender Forest, and despite the rain, my excitement never wavered.
๐ง️ Even though it was drizzling and misty, the scene before us looked like something straight out of a fairytale — gothic towers, lush gardens, and bridges disappearing into the fog. The weather, instead of ruining it, actually made the whole place even more enchanting.
๐ฟ About Xinshe Castle
Located in the mountainous area of Taichung, Xinshe Castle (Summit Resort) is a European-style chateau that might make you forget you’re still in Taiwan. Built entirely of red stone blocks, it feels like you’ve stepped into a medieval storybook.
With gardens, waterfalls, a tranquil lake, and even a small winery, this place isn’t just a castle — it’s an experience. It’s also one of Taichung’s most popular pre-wedding photoshoot venues, thanks to its romantic architecture and stunning mountain backdrop.

๐ How to Get There
๐ From Taichung City, take a bus bound for Xinshe (Shinshe) and get off at Zhongxingling Stop (ไธญ่ๅถบ). From there, you can take a local taxi or private car to Xinshe Castle, which takes about 10–15 minutes.
๐ If you’re joining the Xinshe Tour Shuttle, ask the driver to include Xinshe Castle (Summit Resort) in your itinerary.
๐ Travel Tip: Since public transport is limited, hiring a taxi for a half-day trip is the most convenient option.
๐ As we explored, something unforgettable happened — I realized I had left my Nikon camera case back at one of the cottages! ๐ฑ I ran back, half-panicking, only to find it still there — untouched! That moment reminded me once again just how honest and kind the people in Taiwan are.
After that scare, we wandered through the gardens, admiring the waterfalls and stone arches wrapped in fog. It felt surreal. Eventually, we found the castle’s cafรฉ — it was crowded, but the service was fast and the food was great. The warm tea and pastries were exactly what we needed after a chilly day of exploring.
By the time we finished, dusk had already fallen, and it was time to head to our last stop of the day — the Xinshe Sea of Flowers Festival. ๐ธ
