๐Ÿฆ‹ Simply Butterflies Conservation Center, Bilar: Where Nature Transforms Wonderfully

๐Ÿฆ‹ Simply Butterflies Conservation Center: A Magical Stop in Bilar, Bohol

If you're looking for a peaceful, educational, and Instagram-worthy stop in Bohol, don’t skip the Simply Butterflies Conservation Center in Bilar. It’s more than just a garden — it’s a vibrant center of learning, conservation, and appreciation for one of nature’s most delicate wonders: the butterfly.

๐Ÿ‘‹ Warm Welcome & Guided Experience

As soon as you enter the center, you’ll be greeted by friendly staff and knowledgeable tour guides. After paying a modest entrance fee (₱40 for adults, ₱10 for kids), our guide brought us to the Visitors Center, where dozens of butterfly species are displayed in glass cases.

It was surprisingly fun and nostalgic — like being back in high school biology class. I admit I flinched a bit at the sight of the caterpillars ๐Ÿ› (they give me the creeps!), but it’s truly fascinating how something that initially scares us can transform into something so beautiful. ๐ŸŒˆ

๐Ÿงฌ Learn About the Butterfly Life Cycle

Inside the center, the guide explains the complete life cycle of a butterfly, from egg to caterpillar to pupa and finally to butterfly. Their presentation is informative, and the passion of the guides makes it enjoyable even if you’re not the "science type."

๐ŸŒ Conservation Efforts in Bohol

Did you know there are nearly 300 butterfly species in Bohol? About half of those can be seen at the center. It's also the first butterfly breeding and conservation center in Bohol, focused on:

  • ๐ŸŒฑ Breeding and releasing butterflies into the wild

  • ๐ŸŒฟ Conducting plant research to support butterfly habitats

  • ๐Ÿ’ผ Providing a sustainable livelihood for locals

  • ๐Ÿ› Protecting declining butterfly species in the Philippines

Every butterfly released or bred here plays a role in preserving biodiversity and educating the next generation.

๐Ÿชด Strolling Through the Butterfly Garden

Outside, you’ll find an open butterfly garden filled with specialized plants designed to attract butterflies. During our visit, the butterflies were so tame that some of them landed on our hands or hovered calmly around flowers we held.

You can stroll through the garden, relax on benches, and enjoy the colorful surroundings. Along the pathways, there are interactive displays — and the tour guides know fun photo tricks using props and angles that make it look like butterflies are perched on your head or hand!

๐Ÿ“ธ Bonus: Take a Selfie With Their Tarsier Mascot!

Before you leave, don’t forget to grab a photo with their adorable tarsier mascot! It's a quirky, fun memory to take home — especially for the kids (and kids at heart!).
